A decision on the All England tennis club’s plan to expand at Wimbledon is expected in the coming months, and has seen an interesting divide in the community. The expansion will see a new 8,000 seater stadium, 38 practice courts and public parkland built on the site of the neighbouring Wimbledon Park golf course that the All England club bought back in 2018. They say they’ve received an overwhelmingly positive response from locals to the plans – and London Live has heard from some of their supporters. But the two local MPs are unified in their opposition alongside nearly 9,000 signatures on a petition.
